Employees at Allianz Insurance, will cycle over 200 miles this weekend, during their Annual Charity Bike Ride to support the Company’s charity partner, Help the Hospices.

This year’s team is made up of 24 Allianz employees and four support crew, who will ride from the company’s headquarters in Guildford to Paris. The event will take place between Thursday 25th and Sunday 28th September and the group aim to raise £20,000 for the charity.

Richard Foulerton, corporate social responsibility manager at Allianz Insurance, said: “The annual bike ride is now in its fifth year and it’s wonderful that our employees continue to train hard and raise money for our chosen charity. We are also very grateful to our support crew, Gerald and Valerie Robinson and Ceri and Alan Apark, who all give up their own time to help with the ride. We really couldn’t do it without their help.”

He added:

“I hope the whole group finds it a really enjoyable and rewarding experience. I’m really proud of our team and all of their fundraising.”

In previous years Allianz employees have cycled from Guildford to Paris, Cardiff and Brussels, collectively clocking up over 20,000 miles. So far through personal sponsorship employees have raised £40,000 for the charity which has been matched by Allianz bringing the running total to £80,000, before this year’s ride.

Allianz has been working in partnership with Help the Hospices since 2009. Supporting hospices in the UK, the charity helps over 250,000 children and adults with terminal illness each year and so far Allianz employees have collectively raised over £850,000.
