Liverpool Car Park Fire - Allianz update

An update from Allianz's head of motor claims, Tony Newman, following the Liverpool Car Park Fire:

“This was an unprecedented event affecting in the region of 1,400 motorists. Cars were not accessible and owners were left in a difficult situation.

We are committed to putting our customers first and given the nature of the event, we have agreed to waive any impact on customers no claims discounts and have waived to date £17,000 in excess.

Our claims colleagues have been working hard and have dealt with a total of 37 claims made by our customers and have since settled 24 of those so far. We have also received praise from our policyholders acknowledging how quickly the claims team settled their claims.

It's events like this when customers see the true worth of the insurance they bought and responsible insurers step up to the plate quickly to minimise the stress”.
