National Apprenticeship Week - Qamar Hanif, underwriting assistant

National Apprenticeship Week is an annual celebration of the positive impact apprenticeships have on individuals, employers and the economy.

The theme of this year’s event is ‘Blaze a Trail’ – recognising how apprenticeships can help individuals prepare for roles or new career opportunities, as career starter or as an experienced professional.

At Allianz, we currently have 100 employees actively studying on a number of apprenticeship schemes across our business – including underwriting, finance, IT and cyber security.

We spoke to Qamar Hanif, underwriting assistant, about his experience:

What apprenticeship scheme are you on at Allianz?

Insurance practitioner level 3

What types of activities are you involved in?

I am currently speaking to brokers in the North Region including the North West & Scotland who are speaking on behalf of their clients across the country. I will be dealing with various queries that range from request of documents, change of risk details, looking at policy premiums, answering basic queries and setting up new policies for existing policy holders.

What’s been the most valuable experience you’ve gained?

How the insurance market works has given me great knowledge as I came from a non-insurance background.

What would you say to someone considering an apprenticeship?

I would highly recommend the apprenticeship to anyone seeking to gain knowledge, experience and qualifications to develop themselves and their career further.
