ALLIANZ ENGINEERING STRENGTHENS CONSTRUCTION UNDERWRITING TEAM

Allianz Engineering has made some key investment into the strength and depth of its underwriting resources in a bid to grow and demonstrate its appetite within the Construction sector, with three key appointments.

With effect from 31 May, Ian Nichol has been appointed to the position of London underwriting manager. He re-joins the business from HSB, where he worked as construction and engineering underwriting manager. Prior to this, Ian worked at Allianz for 15 years as senior underwriting manager in Liphook.

Claire Buck, engineering underwriting account manager, Allianz Insurance, commented: “I am delighted to welcome Ian back to the business. He brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge of both Allianz and the construction market, and his appointment into our London Region demonstrates our commitment to grow in this space”.

Allianz has also appointed two construction underwriters who will be based in Birmingham. Tony Creedon and Stella Johal both join the team from Zurich where they formed part of its Construction team for the Midlands. Tony moves to Allianz after being with Zurich for 26 years. During this time, he held a number of senior underwriting positions, most recently as the lead Construction underwriter for the Midlands. Stella has been part of the Zurich Construction unit for the last 14 years and has specialised in underwriting casualty construction business.

Claire Buck added: “Tony and Stella are both welcome additions to the team. They are well-established underwriters in the Birmingham market and have strong specialisms in the construction sector, an area which is key to supporting our profitable growth ambition.

This is a major step in developing our Engineering division in order to better support the customer journey. We now look to utilise our expertise to further improve our performance and propositions in the construction sector”.
