Press release -
Allianz hits £150,000 mark for Mind
Five months into its charity partnership, Allianz has already raised £150,000 for the leading mental health charity, Mind.
Since the partnership began in March, employees have taken on a range of fundraising activities including white water rafting in Southampton, the Isle of Wight Challenge, Tough Mudder, and ‘Crafternoons’ across various offices.Employees have also donated 403 bags of clothing to the Mind shops as part of the Big Spring Clean, while a group are due to take part in cycling from London to Amsterdam in September.
The partnership followed an employee vote, where 41% of employees chose Mind as the charity partner. The funds raised by Allianz contribute towards Mind’s work with children, young people and adults to help them develop the skills and tools they need to manage their mental health.
The charity partnership supports Allianz’s strategy to strengthen resilience and expand on the existing mental wellbeing support it has in place for employees. Allianz has recently launched an internal mental health first aid training programme, which develops the skills needed to recognise various mental health conditions and help colleagues needing assistance to find the most appropriate support.
Carolyn Rich, head of brand marketing and social responsibility, Allianz Insurance, said:
“We’re delighted to see such great enthusiasm and engagement from employees around our new charity partnership. We know from our employee vote that mental health is a topic which people feel passionately about and this has been further demonstrated by their fundraising activities.
“The £150,000 raised in the first few months is great progress towards our £1m target. I look forward to seeing more fundraising events taking place and continuing our work towards increasing resilience in young people.”
Emma Ihsan, head of corporate partnerships at Mind, said: “We’re very grateful to everyone at Allianz for choosing to support Mind. It’s great to hear about some of the fantastic ways staff are fundraising. The funds raised will go towards Mind’s work with children, young people and adults to help them develop the skills and tools they need to manage their mental health.”
