ALLIANZ URGES CAUTION ON RESALE OF OLYMPIC TICKETS

Richard says:

"People hoping to buy and sell Olympic tickets should take care to ensure that they only do so through the official website. Many consumers may not realise that under the London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Act 2006, it is illegal to sell tickets through any alternative method. Those who do sell their tickets through other channels are not only infringing the law but could also be hit with a penalty of up to £5,000."

He adds: "Although the buyer does not actually commit a crime by purchasing the ticket, it is likely that their ticket will be void and they will be unable to gain entry to the event."

"Only by purchasing tickets from authorised sellers through the official website, will Olympic fans have certainty that their tickets are genuine and will allow them access on the day, avoiding potentially huge disappointment and wasted costs."
