Press release -
UK pet lovers encouraged to vote for their local animal charity
Entries now open for the 13th Annual Petplan & ADCH Animal Charity Awards
Since 2011, Petplan, the UK’s leading pet insurance company, have been working alongside the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes (ADCH) to champion the work that rescue centres across the UK do to help the ever-increasing number of pets needing to be rehomed.
Now in its thirteenth year, Petplan & ADCH Animal Charity Awards recognise and celebrate teams and individuals, within the animal welfare sector, who work tirelessly to support animals in need. The awards are judged by an impartial and independent panel of key industry representatives and the finalists and winners are celebrated at an annual award ceremony.
There are three categories:
- Animal Charity Employee of the Year
- Animal Charity Team of the Year
- Animal Charity Volunteer of the Year
The awards recognise exceptional levels of care, compassion, outstanding knowledge and expertise. All nominees receive a certificate to proudly display in their rehoming centre and the awards provide an important morale boost for the army of unsung heroes who do so much to improve animal welfare.
Petplan's Trading Director, Bella von Mesterhazy, added: “Through our partnership with over 1,200 animal charities, we see every day the difference teams and individuals make to the lives of animals. Often operating against a challenging backdrop of increased demand for their services and rising costs, their hard work, dedication and compassion never wavers. The Petplan & ADCH Animal Charity Awards are a time to show our appreciation and say thank you.”
Nominations for this year's awards are now open and pet lovers are encouraged to support their local animal charity at www.awards.petplan.co.uk.
Last year’s ‘Team of the Year’ winners were Leicester Animal Aid’s Community Pet Support Scheme (CPSS). Keely Short, General Manager at Leicester Animal Aid commented: “The excitement of winning such a prestigious award was felt not just by the CPSS team, but by all staff and volunteers which created a brilliant buzz around the centre and served as a real morale boost.
“Winning the Petplan and ADCH award has been a very positive experience for the charity, the work we do has been recognised more widely, we are helping more vulnerable people through our Community Pet Support Scheme and the feel-good factor is still being felt!”
